The Human Dignity Film Forum, part of Dare to Overcome: The Economics of Kindness, brings together diplomats, business leaders, filmmakers, academics, faith leaders, and advocates to explore one of the defining questions of our time: how can storytelling strengthen human dignity in an age of rapid technological, political, and social change?
Through two carefully selected films and conversations with three internationally recognized filmmakers and thought leaders — Dr Judith Richter, Jane Clayson Johnson and Mr Jian Shen— the Forum examines how media can build understanding across cultures, foster empathy, and inspire practical action on issues ranging from peacebuilding and social cohesion to freedom, identity, and human flourishing.
More than a film festival, it is a gathering of global leaders committed to using the power of storytelling to bridge divides and advance the common good.
Experience The Last Twins — Dr Judith Richter’s award-winning story of how her father saved twins from the Holocaust.
The Last Twins is a powerful documentary film directed by Perri Peltz and Matthew O’Neill that uncovers the true story of Erno “Zvi” Spiegel, an unsung Holocaust hero who secretly risked his life to save dozens of children at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Assigned by Nazi physician Dr. Josef Mengele to oversee a barracks of young twin boys targeted for horrific medical experiments, Spiegel used his position to shield, comfort, and alter the records of the children to protect them from certain death.
Then discover Pathway to Hope and see the journey of BYU-Pathway students across Africa to self-reliance.
“Pathway to Hope” is an uplifting documentary produced and hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Jane Clayson Johnson. The film spotlights the profound impact of BYU-Pathway Worldwide in Africa, showcasing how affordable, spiritually centered online higher education empowers individuals to overcome poverty and uplift their communities.
The three film makers will lead discussions after the films. This October 15th, film opens a window into courage, hope, and human dignity.
