The King Husein Global Business & Intercultural Peace International Award in Core Business goes to Louis D’Amore. Louis D’Amore is the Founder and retiring President of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT). He has been instrumental in promoting the travel and tourism industry as the world’s first “Global Peace Industry” since the founding of IIPT in 1986. In 1992, following the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development (the Rio Summit), he developed the world’s first Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism. He also conducted the world’s first international study on Codes of Conduct and best practices in Sustainable Tourism for the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). He has impacted governments and the private sector at all levels. With chapters throughout the world, including in India, Louis D’Amore’s legacy will be carried forward by the incoming president of IIPT, Ajay Prakash, who has been President of the India chapter.

Louis D’Amore is the Founder and President of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT). Conference on Environment and Development (Rio Summit), he authored the world’s first Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism tailored to the Canadian tourism sector. Louis also conducted the world’s premier international study on Codes of Conduct and best practices in Sustainable Tourism for the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). His consultancy spans government and private sector work in tourism research, community development, social impact assessment, public participation, cultural and heritage development, environment, recreation, urban planning, and conflict resolution.
